Words, words, words.
Every essay, poem, short story, article, novel and speech we study this year will have its foundation in one thing: words. One word, alone, might seem small, maybe insignificant. But when we string them together, they become sentences. They become paragraphs and pages. They become powerful. In our Language and Literature class this year, we are going to study words. And not just what they mean, but how they mean. Together, we are going to determine what each author is doing and how he or she is doing it. And why is this essential to our learning? Because we're humans, and everything concerns the human condition. And, more importantly, we are going to apply what we learn to our own writing -- we will give our voices the right words, the necessary words, the only words. I am hopeful that this website will serve as a communication tool, a place where you can find useful information concerning the course itself, in addition to acting as a showcase for all that we accomplish together throughout the year. |
